Udon gyoza is the Japanese comfort food you didn’t know you needed, but now won’t be able to live without. They’re crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and they’re so hard to stop eating!
Udon gyoza ingredients:
Ground beef 250g
Bunch of spring onions (I used 10)
Garlic cloves, 2
Ginger, inch
Soy sauce, 2 tbsp
Potato starch (or flour) 2 tbsp
Sesame oil 1 tbsp
Pinch of sugar
Black pepper, 1.5 tsp
2 eggs
Udon (frozen or refrigerated) 540g
Sauce ingredients:
1 tsp rice vinegar
3 tsp soy sauce
How to make these udon gyoza:
1. Mince the spring onions
2. Peel and grate the garlic and ginger
3. Cut up the defrosted udon into bite sized pieces
4. Beat the eggs
5. Combine all udon gyoza ingredients and mix thoroughly
6. Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into a pan and let it lightly coat the base
7. Make the gyoza by scooping a piece with your spoon and shaping it with your hand
8. Lay the gyoza onto the pan
9. Cover and cook for three minutes. Flip, cover and cook for a further three minutes
10. Flip once more, and cook uncovered for two more minutes until crispy
