Domino’s Japan released a new Pizza Rice Bowl, so here’s how to make one at home! Domino’s didn’t have one of my favourite pizzas as a pizza rice bowl, not to mention it’s super hard to find pepperoni in Japan, so today we’re making a BBQ chicken pizza rice bowl!
You’re gonna need a lot of ingredients for this, but you likely already have a lot of it in your cupboard.
Ingredients for this pizza rice bowl (serves 4, or two super hungry people):
Rice:
Short-grain white rice, 4 cups
Garlic 2 cloves
Black pepper
Toppings:
1/2 - 1 chicken breast
Corn (half a cob)
Paprika 1/2 tsp
Cheese of choice 200g
Salt and pepper
Sauce:
Tomato puree/passata 200ml
Dried oregano 1 tsp
Dried basil 1 tsp
Dried parsley 1 tsp
Salt 1 big pinch
Black pepper 1 tsp
Worcester sauce 1 tsp
Tangy BBQ Sauce:
Ketchup 2 tbsp
Brown sugar 2 tbsp
Yellow mustard 1 tsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Vinegar 1 1/2 tbsp
Garlic powder 1 tsp
Paprika 1 tsp
Water 1 tbsp
Worcester sauce 1 tbsp
White pepper 1/2 tsp
How to make this pizza donburi:
1. Preheat oven to 230℃
2. Slice garlic and add to rice before cooking
3. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. Cover in 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp black pepper, and 1 tsp paprika.
4. Add 1 tbsp olive oil to pan, and fry chicken on medium heat until just cooked through and remove from the heat. (It can be a little underdone as it will go in the oven soon!)
5. Cover corn in paprika and salt. Cook until just softened, 3-5 minutes. Add a little more olive oil if needed.
6. Make the tomato sauce by combining all the sauce ingredients.
7. Add black pepper to the cooked rice (forgot to film that), and mix.
8. In an oven-safe container like a dutch oven, add the cooked rice, tomato sauce, cheese and toppings. Bake uncovered at 230℃ for 15 minutes.
9. While waiting, make the BBQ sauce by simply combining all the BBQ sauce ingredients.
10. Drizzle the BBQ sauce on top and enjoy!
