Want to know how to make yakisoba from scratch? You’re in the right place! Here I’ll show you how to make yakisoba, even if you can’t find a packet of yakisoba sauce. You can just use ramen noodles, or any other egg noodle that you think would work well fried!
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients for this yakisoba noodle dish:
Sauce:
Japanese Worcester sauce 4 tbsp
Oyster sauce 4 tsp
Red miso 1 tsp
Sugar 1/2 tsp
Garlic powder 1/2 tsp
White pepper 1/2 tsp
[Freshly ground black pepper 1 tsp] x2
Noodles & Toppings:
4 servings of noodles (yakisoba or ramen work best)
Carrot 1/3
Cabbage 1/4
Thinly sliced pork
Benishouga (pickled ginger)
Kewpie mayonnaise
How to make this sauce yakisoba:
1. Make the sauce by simply combining the sauce ingredients. The miso might clump a little, so just push it to the side of your container, or use a miso muddler.
2. Soak the noodles for 2 minutes, then drain. This way you don’t need to add water to your stir fry!
3. Prepare the vegetables by cutting the carrot into thin sticks, and the cabbage into squares.
4. Add 1-2 tbsp canola oil to a wok and cook the carrot for about a minute. Add the cabbage and black pepper, and cook for another minute or two, then remove from the wok. Do not overheat.
5. Add the pork to the pan with the second lot of black pepper. Once it is about 75% cooked, add the noodles to the other side of the wok.
6. If the noodles haven’t browned yet, place the pork on top of the noodles to avoid overcooking.
7. Once the noodles have browned, add the pre-cooked vegetables and sauce.
8. Stir fry about a minute longer, then serve with Japanese mayonnaise and benishouga (pickled ginger).
