The tortilla wrap hack has been all over TikTok and Instagram - but how about a Sushi Wrap Hack?! Today we’re going to make easy folded sushi… or maybe they’re more like an easy onigiri? Whatever they are, they’re damn tasty, and I'll be making them long after the trend is over!
Folded California Roll Ingredients:
1 Nori sheet
Cooked short grain white rice 2 tbsp
Crab 50g (fresh, canned, imitation, whatever you like!) 50g
Salmon roe 5g
Mayonnaise 2 tsp
Avocado 1/2
Japanese Cucumber 1/3
Folded Easy Cheesy Kimbap Ingredients:
1 Nori sheet (Korean nori if you can find it!)
Cooked short grain white rice 2 tbsp
Soy sauce 1/2 tsp
Gochujang 2 tsp
Sesame oil 1 tsp
Carrot 1-2 inches
Kimchi 4 tbsp
Grated cheese 2-3 tbsp
Folded Spicy Salmon & Avocado Wrap Ingredients:
1 Nori sheet
Salmon (a small leftover bit works well)
Avocado 1/2
Mayonnaise 2 tsp
Sriracha (or other hot sauce) 1 tsp
How to make the California Roll:
1. Optional: Lightly fry the crab in olive oil to remove moisture and add flavour
2. Combine crab and mayonnaise
3. Slice avocado and cucumber
4. Place a nori sheet shiny side down, then cut a line from the centre to the end
5. Place each filling in one square of the nori sheet. Combine crab and salmon roe as the first square
6. Fold, starting from the bottom left
How to make the Kimbap:
1. Add sesame oil to pan and fry the pre-cooked rice with soy sauce and gochujang
2. Grate the carrot and cheese
3. Place a nori sheet shiny side down, then cut a line from the centre to the end
4. Place each filling in one square of the nori sheet
5. Fold, starting from the bottom left
6. Put the wrap into a hot pan, without oil, and fry each side for a minute. Cover and cook until cheese has melted
How to make the Spicy Salmon & Avocado Wrap:
1. Add salt and pepper to salmon, then grill for 13-18 minutes (depending on size)
2. Combine mayonnaise and hot sauce
3. Slice avocado
4. Place a nori sheet shiny side down, then cut a line from the centre to the end
5. Place each filling in one square of the nori sheet
6. Fold, starting from the bottom left
